This DIY herbal hair rinse is the perfect blend of herbs that nourish and strengthen hair. If you use this rinse 1-2 times a week, I’m sure you will see a difference in the quality, growth, and strength of your hair over the course of a few months.

How These Herbs Affect Hair Health and Growth

Nettle has been used for healthy hair for hundreds of years. It is extremely rich in minerals- especially magnesium, calcium and silicon – and also rich in vitamins A, C, E and B.  It not only nourishes the hair with it’s nutrient packed properties, but also is used to help stimulate hair regrowth.

Horsetail is rich in silicon which helps to form collagen and strengthen your hair and nails. Silicon also gives your hair texture and shine and helps promote hair growth.

Rosemary is a stimulating herb that helps to increase scalp circulation through its constituent Ursolic Acid. It promotes healthy hair growth by sending oxygen and nutrients straight to the follicles. It’s also known to revitalize hair and help remove any buildup on the strands or scalp.

Lavender can help soothe your scalp and skin, fight microbial infections like itchy scalp or dandruff, and help soften hair and restore moisture.

You can see that this combination of herbs is sure to help nourish your hair when used consistently!

How to Make Your DIY Herbal Hair Rinse

Gather your ingredients: (I used dried and organic when possible!)

Nettles

Horsetail

Rosemary

Lavender

Measure and Combine the Herbs

2 Parts Nettles

2 Parts Horsetail

1 Part Rosemary

1 Part Lavender

A “part” can be any unit of measurement. If you are just making a one-time dosage, you could replace the word “part” with “teaspoon”. If you want to make a batch to combine and save, you could replace “part” with “1/4 cup” or even “one cup”. Any measurement works!

Measure all the herbs and combine together in a container.

Combine 2-3 cups of water with 2-3 Tablespoons of the herbal hair rinse mixture. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cover with a lid and gently simmer for 20-30 minutes. Allow to cool completely. Strain water from herbs. Keep your herbal hair rinse in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. It will store for about a week.

I like to take my rinse in the shower with me. You can either rinse your hair out with plain water after, or leave the herbal hair rinse in your hair all day to let the herbs do their strengthening work!
